Figure 1 Signs Art Book Distribution Deal with Prestel

Figure 1 Publishing announced today that it has signed an international distribution agreement with the prestigious art book publisher, Prestel Publishing, to sell and distribute Figure 1’s award-winning art, architecture and design books in Europe and all markets outside of North America. Richard Nadeau, Figure 1’s Executive VP of Sales and Distribution said, “This is a major part of our global sales and distribution strategy. Our art and architecture book program, and the galleries, artists and designers it showcases, will now have superb sales representation in the key European and Asian markets where Canadian art is gaining a world-class reputation.”

Andrew Hansen, Managing Director of Prestel, said, “It is a great pleasure for Prestel to be working with Figure 1 and we hope, through this partnership, to bring the very best books about Canadian art, architecture, crafts and culture to the world at large. We see the Figure 1 list, in terms of quality, attention to detail, curatorial excellence and relevance to the international bibliophile community as the equal of our own and, as such, it is the perfect fit alongside Prestel’s own program. We are proud to bring the best of the new world to new audiences in Europe and across the globe.”

Prestel will begin distribution of Figure 1 Art and Architecture for the Fall 2016 season. Among the first titles to be distributed are Jeff Wall: North and West, Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun: Unceeded Territories, and the Vancouver Art Gallery’s forthcoming Emily Carr title, “I had an interesting French artist to see me this summer”. Publishers Group Worldwide will continue to sell Figure 1’s other publishing categories internationally. Raincoast distributes all of Figure 1’s titles in Canada and PGW handles print in the U.S. and digital worldwide.
